Wong Tai Sin Temple in Hong Kong

The Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple often has crowds of people kneeling and praying, shaking bamboo fortune sticks to foresee the future. The temple built in 1973, is one of Hong Kong's most colorful and intense temples. Always busy, Wong Tai Sin is a major center for Daoist worship. The temple is dedicated to Wong Tai Sin, a mythical shepherd who had the power of healing. He is an extremely popular deity and his painting was brought from China in 1915 and moved to its current location 6 years later. (Photos by Ringo H.W. Chiu)
