The 50th anniversary of the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Hollywood on July 25, 2010. The Walk of Fame runs east to west on Hollywood Boulevard from North Gower Street to North La Brea Avenue, plus a short segment of Marshfield Way that slices diagonally between Hollywood and La Brea; and north to south on Vine Street between Yucca Street and Sunset Boulevard. Construction for the Walk of Fame began in February 1960 and was officially dedicated in November 1960. There were no individual star ceremonies for the first 1,500 stars that were placed on the Walk in 1960 and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, as the administrator of the Walk, began doing individual star ceremonies in 1968. The first was for Richard D. Zanuck on December 11, 1968. (Photo by Ringo H.W. Chiu)
